Two girls meet outside over a cigarette, and then meet again and again in those quiet moments outside of parties, when the noise is dull and the stars are bright and its just two girls sharing a cigarette talking about things that scare them. At first they don’t like each other, Ed’s mean and petty, Beth’s bold and stubborn, but as they continue to meet in these moments of inconsequential quiet they allow themselves to be friends.
