Kingyo Takeshita has been a closely guarded secret his whole life. As a highly-prized mutolida, his scales are hunted for and coveted by the rich and privileged of Goldenclad. But one day, when he's discovered, that secret becomes well known- threatening his safety and the safety of those around him. As the elite of the underground city scramble to get their hands on him, a prophecy foretelling a rebellion and the King's death appears- and Kingyo seems to be at the center of it all.
