This one’s actually by the author of A Hero For This Dragon. I actually enjoy this one a lot more! Def check out if you fw stuff like Robotboy or My Life as a Teenage Robot. If you crave a new series that has that vibe but is more slice of life oriented, look no further than this one. For a while I assumed it was abandoned on Tapas, but recently learned it’s still updating on Webtoon. After getting caught up with it, it became even better!! Anil is a great addition that shakes things up and it’s cool to see how Azul is progressively becoming more humanlike.

It's only a little over 100 pages right now, but it's already one of my favorites I've read in 2026. The art style is amazing. Every character has a lotta thought put into their designs, even the background characters. It helps the city of the Knox feel more lived in with how many unique characters populate it. The action and choreography are fluid and the accompanying onomatopoeia is stylish. The whole series just feels really Vibes-coded. It has a sleek art style with furry characters, awesome action, and a lovable tomboyish lead. I'm really engrossed in the main character Jackie, who's this feisty reformed delinquent with fire powers trying to find her new calling in her dream school. The series hasn't reached the point where that's been a focus yet, but what's there is really fun. I highly recommend keeping an eye on this one, as it has the potential to become an all-timer for me as more episodes release.

What if you took TwoKinds, gave Trace the powers of Monkey D. Luffy, and made it so the poor quality of the early chapters permeated through the rest of the series? That's basically how I view Chronicles of Lunar Ash. It has the same premise of an amnesiac human that used to be affiliated with the villains falling in love with an anthro from a race the humans oppress and trying to fight for her race's safety. It's a premise I really like, but for much of the run the romance is pretty sidelined for action. It's also difficult to get attached to the romance anyway considering none of the characters jump out to me as memorable. The art isn't much to write home about, especially when it comes to some errors with speech bubbes, though it does feature some cool weapon and character designs. There's on episode where it reused the same panel three times with only a slight variation in a character's expression by the end. There are unfortunately a lot of spelling and grammatical errors throughout the whole webcomic, which has led to confusion surrounding the plot. It doesn't help that Ather constantly pulls out new weapons and powers out of his ass without a reasonable explanation. Also how come we never get to meet the gumchi race Ather's powers are based on? It's hard to believe a race of rabbits made of gum would fit in a setting like this, and if it was mentioned they were wiped out, I'd have caught that.

I always love me a story where the humans are gone and the animals have evolved and dominated the world. The worldbuilding is detailed and interesting, the mechs look awesome—especially in combat, and the art is really good. Unfortunately, there is one major problem that really brings In Our Shadow down for me: the script. It’s way too bloated. One look at a random page and you’ll see what I mean. The textboxes are more than plentiful and are all really bunched up together. Add in the fact that the webcomic is almost 600 pages long and the readthrough quickly becomes an endurance test. A lot of it is either needless fluff, or the author trying to add as many explanations as possible to ensure there are no plot holes. There’s surely a better way to go about it than having that much yapping. I would’ve dropped it way earlier had the main antagonist Emperor Schorl not been interesting. Even he too wasn’t spared from the yap-olympics, his personality really stands out and everything surrounding him is pretty interesting. Surprisingly, reading through the entirety of it was worth it, because the sequel is surprisingly an improvement. Sure, some pages do have a bloated script, but that issue isn’t nearly as prevalent as it was in the previous series. There are also many more memorable characters in this one. Not nearly as much as Schorl, but they are certainly more interesting than the last main cast. It has all that mech action I loved and the drama is more potent considering the new gaslighting main villain.

I’d probably be a lot more interested if I was into the whole fantasy DND quest scene. To me this was a complete snoozefest, but I’d imagine someone else would enjoy this a lot more
