Nyx in the Overworld

Fantasy adventure comics feat. Nyx, a kinda-magical loot-obsessed half-human half-something on a mum-saving quest that's mysteriously similar to a videogame. Ancient artefacts of great power, useless sidekicks, rad swords, a gathering darkness and sweet magic powers await. This comic also has a soundtrack I wrote! VibeCheckAug 09, 2026I didn't expect to read two webcomics this month that frequently use animated elements. Unlike Cupbearers, they remain all throughout in this one. Nyx in the Overworld is a pretty standard rpg-styled adventure affair, but the presentation really sells it. Not only is the art style really pleasant and the simple animations are fun, but it contains an autoplay soundtrack accompanying most pages. The story is pretty simple, but it does have some cool ideas I'm into. The heroic party is framed as the bad guys in the prophecy, so the overall moral is that no matter what you are, no one is inherently evil. I think Nyx seeing the world through an rpg lens is pretty cool and I like how they grapple with their villainous heritage. It's also gnarly that a series as old as 2013 had a non-binary protag! It has other memorable characters too like the gremlin-coded Sylven and the super chill King of the North Seas.
