There is nothing definitive about life after death, except the involuntary enrollment at the mysterious Nevermore Academy. Now Lenore and Annabel Lee must begin their curriculum to recover the memories of their tragic demise. Between the Dean's macabre demeanor and the tell-tale dangers of Final Exams, both girls must learn to rely on one another and their newly acquired ghost forms, or Spectres, to not only graduate from the academy… but to earn a second chance at life.

The gothic setting and vibes are on point, I really appreciate all the influences it takes from Poe, and Nevermore is such a unique spin on the typical magic school concept. I really love the power system centered around turning into ghosts with appearances & powers inspired by one's death circumstances. The art is immaculate, and the animated elements are simply the cherry on top. Nevermore has a really strong cast. There are some duds here and there like Will, but there are quite a few characters I'd consider some of my favorites I discovered this year. Lenore, Duke, Morella, the twins, heck, even Montreso is seriously captivating as scummy as he is. My only really big critique I have is likely gonna be considered a hot take, but I'm not sold on Lenore and Annabel's relationship yet. They do have a lot of great scenes together and I am really intrigued by their history together before their passing, but Annabel has burned too many bridges for me to be satisfied once they do get together.
